Asst. Controller


Job Summary:


The Assistant Controller exists to provide and help Controller in all functions of the finance department and supervising of staff and to ensure accounting functions and reporting are performed accurately and in a timely manner.

 

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Provide guidance to staff on daily basis
  • Review check requests from various departments to ensure validity.
  • Review expense reports , credit cards and mileage reimbursement reports
  • Work with controller in review process of financials and all other analysis requested.
  • Review month end workpapers submitted by staff
  • Assist staff in reconciling their accounts.
  • Handle various items that come up on a daily basis with LO’s, borrowers, vendors, investors, etc.
  • Make recommendations for improvement of processes
  • Provide any other information as requested by executive team
  • Knowledge of industry

 

Job Qualifications:

  • 5 years of finance and accounting experience
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable accounting and financial statement preparation methods and requirements
  • Knowledge of corporate tax and regulations
  • Great problem-solving skills and ability to visualize process change and its implementation
  • Excellent PC skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting
  • Must have excellent attention to detail and communication skills.

 Experience:

 

  • MUST HAVE 3-5 YEARS EXPERIENCE AS A RETAIL LOAN OFFICER OR WHOLESALE ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE AND HAVE BEEN IN THE MORTGAGE INDUSTRY IN THE PAST YEAR IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION.
  • Must be highly motivated, innovative and flexible.
  • Knowledge of all Products, Services and Pricing Policy of UWM.
  • Knowledge of all Automated Services offered by UWM.
  • Possess experience in loans originated in the wholesale environment.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience closing conventional, government or non-conforming loans.
  • General knowledge of Underwriting, Product and Title Insurance requirements/procedures.
  • Ability to be flexible and work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, phone and presentation).
  • Strong computer proficiency and skills.
