United Wholesale Mortgage (UWM) Chief Operating Officer Melinda Wilner was recently selected as one of HousingWire’s 2016 Women of Influence, a list that the national housing publication released today. Now in its sixth year, the Women of Influence distinction recognizes leaders who are driving housing economy, from lenders and service providers to real estate agents and housing non-profits.

Wilner, a 17-year veteran of the mortgage industry, was promoted to Chief Operating Officer in August 2015. She leads more than 500 team members in Underwriting, Closing and IT, streamlining operations to make the lending process easier from start to finish for mortgage brokers and borrowers in every state.

Wilner oversaw the roll-out of innovative proprietary tools that proved to be a difference-maker in the industry. These tools include UWM’s custom loan origination system (EASE) and UClose, a self-closing platform that empowers mortgage brokers to go from clear-to-close to closing in just minutes, and made the loan process easier and faster for mortgage brokers. In a time, post-TRID, where just about all lenders were slowing down, these tools helped UWM speed up.

Earlier this year, Wilner was also named to Mortgage Professional America’s “Hot 100”, an annual list that highlights the movers and shakers who’ve made waves in the mortgage industry.
