The role of an account executive is to build relationships. Traditional account executives visit local broker shops and attempt to convince broker owners to send business to the lender they work for. Fuel to First Place

By Kristina Green

This past Sunday, previously unknown rookie driver Alexander Rossi won first place in the 100th Indianapolis 500. Urged to take a final pit stop for gas with 85 miles remaining, Rossi knew his last fill-up wouldn’t help him win, let alone make it to the finish line. Most drivers will stop an additional time for gas before the race ends. Rossi would not be stopping, per his pit crew. He had to put faith into his crew and follow their command.

A common challenge for broker owners is to ensure that they are compensating their Loan Officers in accordance with the proper lending laws. Should you pay an hourly wage or a pre-set salary? Should you set a minimum and maximum amount? There are many things to consider when making these decisions.

“What are you doing answering my email?” is the question I received via email at 10:50pm the other night from one of my clients. My response was simple, “You are working, so I need to be. Your loans are my loans, too.” Earlier that night I took a call on my cell as I was driving home at around 8:30pm. The first words out of my client’s mouth were, “What are you doing answering the phone?” Again, my reply was simple, “You called me.”

"What do you do for a living?” We’ve all been asked that question. No matter how long you’ve been in the mortgage industry or how much time you spend advertising your name, someone is still going to ask that question.
