UWM Seeking Recent High School Grads for Full-Time Career Opportunities

Open Roles Do Not Require Mortgage Experience

Pontiac, May 22, 2023 – United Wholesale Mortgage (UWM), the #1 overall mortgage lender in America, and named a Top Workplace in the nation, is looking to fill hundreds of roles across the company. These positions require a high school diploma or equivalent along with the right work ethic and attitude. No mortgage experience is necessary as UWM’s award-winning training team will provide the industry knowledge required to succeed.

As purchase season begins and momentum continues to grow in the wholesale channel, UWM is looking to fill these positions in the coming months. These roles are a great opportunity for recent high school graduates who are not interested in going to college right now, those who have a couple of years of college under their belt or just graduated from college. A majority of UWM team members start in one role and within a few years are making an impact in a completely different role or area of the company.

“At UWM, we don’t care where you went to school, your prior experience or what your resume looks like. We only care that you have a great work ethic and a positive attitude,” said Mat Ishbia, president and CEO of UWM. “Our team members are what make UWM one of the best places to work in the nation. We focus on bringing in the best people and training them up to be the best versions of themselves and that is what has led us to be so successful.”

Those who apply online to UWM are guaranteed a call back within 48 hours regardless of experience or education level. The goal is to find a role for candidates who have the positive attitude and strong work ethic the company looks for.

UWM’s hiring strategies continue to make a positive impact on Pontiac, Michigan, Oakland County and the surrounding communities. By removing barriers of entry including a college degree, UWM can hire and train candidates for long-term successful careers in areas such as IT, Underwriting, Sales and more.

“As an urban school in the community of Pontiac, it is great to know that our students have had real-life working experience with our partner, UWM.” said Septembra Williams, Superintendent of Arts & Technology Academy of Pontiac. “While some of our students are not motivated to go on to college, due to the increase in cost of living, UWM has offered opportunities to our graduating seniors. They have provided a place for our students to get real-life, hands-on experience in the workplace, while they navigate life as an adult.”

UWM is hosting weekly walk-in interviews for entry-level positions and other various roles every Thursday from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. through July 27. Anyone interested in a role is welcome to come to UWM’s main campus where they will talk directly with recruiters on-site. Resumes are not required.

“The wonderful thing about working at UWM is you can have a long and successful career here no matter what experience level you come in at,” said Laura Lawson, Chief People Officer at UWM. “We have a nationally recognized training program that teaches people at all levels, from high school grads to those looking for a career change, everything they need to know about mortgages. Whether it’s an underwriting role, an IT role or anything in between, we’re essentially set up as a super-powered mortgage trade school, but we invest in and pay our team members to learn and grow.”
